.... If they are entertaining the idea of a TOON Portal while entertaining the idea of a gold course to find the portal; I do not believe they will find it via digging up a gold course. The character's being "LOONEY" in of themselves wouldn't consider the SCP foundation finding the portal to their home 'FUNNY' at all. To be poked, proded, studied and treated as a 'Contained' anomaly to which they themselves cannot escape or leave on their own free will and even then, the SCP foundation could have just started a TUNNELING Operation underneath these golf courses to save money on repair, re-seeding grass, leveling the ground and so on. If there is such a portal to start, then the Foundation needs to tackle finding it from a different approach. Another Reality Warper like the witch child to cast a 'finding' spell to locate the portal. Ask the Butler with the bell perhaps? Maybe go to the Liar's Cradle and start sorting fact from fiction to start narrowing down the location on how to reach the portal. Alternatively, the SCP foundation can tackle this from a non-anomalous perspective easily, though impossible to guarantee sure success would be to setup a 'joke' to finding the portal and praying an instance responds to the joke by providing that portal, but making the portal unreachable much like how Bug's or Daffy would set something up to what their victims want, but yank it away with painful gags or warping reality to suit a joke... Oh well.
